Lovin’ Laramie: Local Band Rocks

9 Oct

By Kylie Bovenzi

What better way to spend a Saturday night than supporting a local band whilst sipping on the craftiest of craft brews and gesticulating mounds of greasy, delicious food? If you happen to not have a loving family or any friends or even any hobbies whatsoever awaiting you at home, the answer is NOTHING. Nothing is better than this exact scenario, and luckily it is coming true this weekend at The Library Sports Grille and Brewery, brought to you by a special performance from local jamsters Harriman Exit.

Harriman Exit, Really? Yes Really.

If this band’s name does not sound familiar to you, you clearly are not from the Cheyenne/Laramie area. The name is indeed an homage to one of the band member’s homes, located-you guessed it-right off of Harriman Exit. This house saw friendships cultivate and grow over a mutual love for music, and eventually sprout into the quartet now officially known as Harriman Exit. With overtones of indie rock, jazz and disco (think a fully instrumental cover of Sister Sledge’s ‘We are Family’) Harriman is the perfect pairing for some food and libations at The Library. Come for the hip swaying tunes, stay for the Summit Pale Ale.

Cost: Free!

No Spare Time this Weekend?

Luckily, a more nationally known band will also be gracing Laramie’s presence next Thursday, October 16th at the Cowboy Saloon. Guttermouth, described as “American punk craziness” by Michelle Horton, will be delivering what is sure to be an interesting performance. They are known for their onstage antics, and Michelle, a long time fan, warns that anyone who may be offended by vulgar language or politically charged rants will probably not enjoy their particular brand of performance. They will follow up this performance with a show at the Black Sheep in Colorado Springs, so be sure to catch them while they are in our neck of the woods.
