Holidays make people sick

Although holiday-time is usually seen as happy and exciting, it can take its toll on people’s stress levels. This can be both physical and emotional. Luckily, there are some simple ways to correct the extra stress one might experience during this time of the year.

To get your body back on track, just tweak your daily habits a bit. Some good examples include the following:

Emotional remedies

Your mind may need some space and time to get everything figured out from the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Many people work long hours in addition to trying to get everything ready to create a “magical” holiday experience. Here are some helpful ways to get your mind to calm down:

  • Take some personal time to relax and regroup. You might do this by reading a good book, taking hot baths, or meditating.
  • Avoid clutter. When there is a lot of clutter in the home or workspace, people often report feeling more anxious. A clean area is a less stressful area.
  • Spend more time with the family pet, or if you don’t have one you could volunteer at a shelter. Spending time with pets has been proven to lower blood pressure and help people relax.
