The life of an editor

Chaos reigns supreme

And in the beginning there was NOTHING. Which is not true, there was chaos. An endless possibility of all that there was, will be and never was. This is basically how I feel right now about being the current online editor for the LCCC paper, Wingspan. Chaos reigns supreme here. We talk and laugh about being organized and efficient; however, in reality, we hiss and scream, like a vampire being exposed to light, at the O and E words. (shudder)(It actually hurt to type them) Even now, the chaos is running things for me. I’ve had an extension to post this, but its now 10 p.m. and I just now have the time to write this.

Out of the chaos comes creation

The chaos is not a completely bad thing. While it has put me behind in keeping the website up-to-date, I have been able to design cover for the next issue of Wingspan, took a great photo of Women’s volleyball and wrote a great cut line for it on the sports page, and I’ve written a column for the paper as well. (Now that I’ve linked the sports page, I realize that I haven’t had a chance to add the cut line to the sports page, it’s on the main page. CURSES)

Reluctantly crouched at the starting line

Speaking of columns, here’s a tiny except from here:

The times they are a-changin’. I think these are sentiments we can all echo whether a new student, or graduating this semester or somewhere in between. Change is all around us. New deans, new bookstore, new faculty or, for some, a new home.

For most of us, change is frightening. As a whole, people are resistant to the new. We claw; we bite; we fight, and we most definitely do not go gently into that good night.

If you enjoyed that tiny piece of work, pick up the next issue of Wingspan. It’ll be out Sept. 23.
