STOMP hits Cheyenne

3 Nov

Stomp is a group that incorporates sound, movement, and visual comedy. They engage audiences with groovy beats. The Cheyenne Civic Center hosted the group from the UK for a thrilling performance. They used unusual household items to create a unique and exciting sound. Some of the items used were:

  • Brooms
  • Matchbooks
  • Trash cans
  • Bananas
  • Long wooden poles
  • Drumsticks
  • Newspaper
  • Sand
  • Dustpan
  • Zippo lighters
  • Pots and pans
  • Water
  • Kitchen sinks

The experience

I bought cheap tickets, at thirty dollars a ticket, which had me sitting in the very back row. Even  sitting so far back, I wasn’t missing a thing. I heard every rhythmic grunt and shake of a matchbox. The set was interesting and the lighting design was artistic and exact. This wasn’t just drummers beating on a trash bin, however. There were certain aspects of the performance that were exciting and hilarious, and every person in that full house left happy.
